Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø announces commencement weekend speakers

Dr. Al Bowman, president emeritus of Illinois State University, will deliver the address at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s 157th commencement convocation this May.
After graduating from Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø in 1975, Dr. Bowman earned a master¡¯s degree in speech-language pathology from Eastern Illinois University and his Ph.D. in speech and hearing science from the University of Illinois.
Bowman joined the faculty of Illinois State University in 1978, and after service as departmental chair and later provost, Dr. Bowman was named president in 2003, and led Illinois State University until his retirement in 2012.
The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, at the iWireless Center, 1201 River Drive, Moline, Ill. The public is welcome to attend.
Earlier on Commencement Sunday, Pastor Paul Bailie, pastor at Iglesia Luterana San Lucas in Eagle Pass, Texas and a 2004 graduate of Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø, will deliver the sermon at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s baccalaureate service. The service will take place at 10 a.m. in Centennial Hall (3703 7th Ave., Rock Island).
