欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 hosts Embrace Race Luncheon

This year’s Embrace Race Luncheon is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Gerber Center at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网. This is the fifth year Well Suited has organized the luncheon.

Five years ago, Tracy Singleton started Well Suited, a school-based mentorship program that brings together African American and Black boys and young men from disadvantaged neighborhoods with African American and Black adult men. These men serve as positive role models and mentors, sharing advice, hope, lessons on overcoming obstacles and inspiring dreams.

In addition to the Embrace Race luncheon, students will have the opportunity to engage with current 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 student leaders who share a similar identity before the luncheon and participate in a campus tour afterward.

"We are proud to host the Embrace Race Luncheon at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 this year,” said Dr. Gauri Pitale, 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion. “Our commitment to fostering educational access and leadership development extends beyond our campus, as we collaborate with Quad Cities community-based organizations like Well Suited.

“Through these partnerships, we strive to empower young African American and Black students to envision a future where higher education is within reach, leadership is attainable, and they have the opportunity to shape their communities in alignment with their aspirations and vision for the world."

Singleton, CEO of Well-Suited, said the annual Embrace Race Luncheon creates transformative connections between Black young men and local CEOs, executives and business owners, fostering mentorship and opportunity. The new collaboration with 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 expands its impact through educational pathways and resources.

This endeavor was made possible by the generous support of Darrell Owens, a 1990 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 graduate and a member of the Board of Trustees. “Supporting the luncheon is about helping young Black students to see themselves on a college campus, in a boardroom and leading in their communities,” Owens said. “I am proud to help create that vision at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网.”

A partial sponsor of the event, Estes Construction CEO Kent Pitcher added, "Embrace Race is a tremendous opportunity for CEOs and senior level business leadership to engage with young Black men to express their support and learn more about each other, in an environment.

“After each event, I have continually received feedback on how enjoyable and rewarding this is for the CEOs. This year we thank 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网 for joining our event and our effort to expand the perspectives of the CEOs and the young men, as we continue to grow the event and its impact."

Supporting the efforts of Well Suited and hosting the Embrace Race Luncheon reflect one of the primary goals of 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网’s Bold & Boundless strategic plan — connecting through partnerships with the Rock Island community.
