Ethics Essay Contest winners announced
Lauren Raike, a junior biology major from San Antonio, Texas, is the winner of the 16th annual Ethics Essay Contest for her paper, "Pandemics: Expediting Medications through the Trial Period for the Greater Good."
Dr. Dan Lee announced the winners on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Center for the Study of Ethics, sponsor of the contest.
Second place went to Rylie Schurter, a senior from Crystal Lake, Ill., majoring in political science and Spanish, for "Ethical Duty: The Responsibilities We Have during a Global Pandemic"
Third place went to Aksa Roy, Roy, a junior majoring in biochemistry from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, for "Cyberbullying and Punishments (Concentrating on Kerala Women)."
Honorable mention:
Kayla Canning, a sophomore biology major from Rock Island, for "The Effects of COVID-19 on Business and Society."
Jessica Kurkowski, a senior from Peru, Ill., majoring in philosophy and sociology, for "The Vulnerability and Erotic Power Dynamic in Sex Technology Ethics."
The winner will receive an award of $100, the second-place winner an award of $50, and the third-place winner an award of $25.
