Highlights from Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's music ensemble spring tours
This spring, the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Symphonic Band traveled to Japan, performing concerts in Tokyo, Nagoya and Sagamihara. Students visited ancient shrines, attended samurai sword and taiko drum workshops, visited Kyoto and performed "Furosato" by Teiichi Kano with the Hikarigaoka Girls High School Band and Choir at the Toyota City Concert Hall in Toyota City, Japan.
Fresh off a tour of Germany and the Czech Republic, the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Choir toured the Midwest, visiting Rockford, Naperville and Arlington Heights in Illinois; Waukesha and Madison in Wisconsin; and Mounds View, Minn.
The Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble also toured the Midwest, visiting Iowa City and Fort Madison in Iowa, and Kirkwood, Mo.
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's tradition of ensemble tours dates back to the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Silver Cornet Band, which toured Illinois and Iowa in 1882. Since then, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's three touring ensembles ¡ª the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Choir, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Symphonic Band and Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble ¡ª have been on the road, traveling as far as England, France, Japan, Scotland, Spain and Sweden.
Through these tours, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students get to experience different cultures and share their love of music with the world.
