DESCRIPTION:Novelist\, short-story writer&nbsp\;and essayist John Holman will read from his work. He teaches writing and directs the creative writing program at Georgia State University.\n\nHolman has published in many magazines and journals including The New Yorker\, Oxford American\, Paste\, and the Mississippi Review. He is a recipient of the prestigious Whiting Writers Award.\n\nHe received a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill\, an M.A. in English from North Carolina Central University\, and a Ph.D. in English and creative writing from the University of Southern Mississippi.\n\nHolman has taught at several institutions\, including North Carolina Central\, St. Augustine¡¯s Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø\, and the University of South Florida. He currently teaches writing and directs the Creative Writing Program at Georgia State University.\n\nThe River Readings series is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs\, the Institute for Leadership and Service\, the Thomas Tredway Library and the English Department.\n
