That included Marguerite LeClaire\, the wife of Antoine LeClaire\, the principal founder of Davenport. She was part Meskwaki and managed to hang onto her land. Her husband was part Pottawatomie.\n\nDr. Simonsen will share the stories of Native American women who sought a legal claim to their land.\n\nRegistration is required. This program is offered in-person or virtually. Masks are recommended at the library.\n URL;VALUE=URI:/about-us/events/2021/standing-her-ground-native-american-women-land-claims-eastern-iowa SUMMARY:Standing (on) Her Ground: Native American Women & Land Claims in Eastern Iowa DTSTART:20211104T233000Z END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
