Finance is one of five concentrations in the business administration major. Business administration majors often choose more than one concentration, and may also combine with other majors.

What are new grads doing (and how did they get there)?

Michaela Magee ¡¯23 works for Ernst & Young in Tysons, Va., a job offer she received after a summer internship. In high school Michaela was shy and "lacked confidence," but at Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø she grew to become a leader on an Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø team in the 2023 CFA (Chartered Financial Analysis) Research Challenge, in her sorority, and as a varsity tennis captain.

Virgel Ross Carillo '23 is an auditor with Crowe LLP. Coming from Manila, Philippines, Virgel was a "typical" Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø student in the ways he succeeded at balancing all of his interests and experiences¡ªwhich included enlisting with the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a member of Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s outstanding business simulation team of students who scored in the top 10% of all teams worldwide

Celine Pham '23 became interested in financial engineering after participating in the 2023 CFA Research Challenge (see story below), and now she is pursuing a master¡¯s in engineering in financial technology at Duke University in Durham, NC.

Nate Sammer '23 is a business and finance manager for O¡¯Neal Builders in Bloomington, Ill. He exemplifies how a student can come to Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø without a major in mind, and have plenty of time to try out different fields and learn a lot (including Swedish throughout his first year) until finding the perfect fit.

Augie sends two teams to CFA Challenge finals

Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s two CFA Institute Research Challenge teams presented their research at Morningstar, Inc., hosted by the CFA Society Chicago in early March. Out of 16 teams, seven advanced as finalists, including Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s two teams.
